Greg Gregory Captures Back to Back Victories at the Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Match Play Championship

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Championship Match of the Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Match Play Championship featured the #5 seed Greg Gregory, PGA head professional at Hidden Creek Golf Course, and the #6 seed Brian Norman, PGA teaching professional at Gleneagles Country Club. Greg Gregory was victorious after 21 holes.

Gregory took an early lead in the match going 1UP after the first hole, and played with a lead for eleven of the next twelve holes.

However, with a birdie on #14, Norman was able to square up the match, and then take the lead 1UP after winning hole #16 with a birdie. On hole #17, Gregory chipped in from the front of the green for birdie, forcing the match back to all square. After making pars on #18, Gregory and Norman were onto extra holes.

On their 21st hole of the match, Gregory made a 30-foot putt for birdie to claim the victory.

This marks Gregory’s second consecutive, and third overall, Match Play Championship victory and eighth NTPGA individual major championship. Gregory took home $7,000 of the $42,000 Open Division purse.

The Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Match Play Championship was contested October 14-16 at River Crest Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, a 6,512-yard, par 70 layout.

The Championship was presented by Adventures In Golf, AT&T Byron Nelson, Green Garden Gold and PGA TOUR.

The top 32 players on the final 2019 Yamaha Golf-Car Company & Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO Player of the Year Points Challenge were invited to compete in the season-ending major championship.
