Legends Lose To Reno

FRISCO, TX –The Texas Legends (25-20) returned home after a Friday night matchup in Oklahoma City to host the Reno Bighorns (25-18) Saturday night in Frisco.  Despite all five starters finishing with double digits, the Legends fell to the Bighorns 122-136.  

Jameel Warney took control of the first, powering out 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists to lead the Legends to a 29-28 edge at the break.  Reno regained the lead early in the second and held on through halftime with all nine active players scoring.  




Texas opened the third with eight straight points, culminating in a three-pointer from Duke Mondy to get back in the driver’s seat.  The visitors stayed within four points and used the last four minutes to strike a 14-3 run that would prove to be the breaking point for Texas.

Johnathan Motley led Texas’ efforts with 27 points, shooting 10-of-18 and 3-of-3 outside, and adding 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks.  Fellow Mavericks two-way Jalen Jones finished with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists while Brandon Ashley added 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists.  Warney tallied 17 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks, and Mondy wrapped up the starters’ star performance by making 6-of-10 (4-of-6 outside) for 17 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals.  

Aaron Harrison came off the bench to lead Reno with 31 points while Jack Cooley grabbed 19 points, 18 rebounds.  Marcus Williams finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and dished out a game-high 8 assists.
