Local Athletes Begin Olympic Quest

Several DFW area athletes are competing in the London 2012 Olympic games. A few begin their quest for gold today. Others are still reflecting on the memories from last night’s Opening Ceremony.
Early this morning, TCU student Sarah Scherer finished 7th in Women’s 10 meter Air Rifle. The event was won by Chinese shooter Yi Siling who captured the first gold medal of the XXX Olympiad.
Competing for Lebanon, local fencer Mona Shaito, of the Fencing Institute of Texas, won her round of 64 match against Egypt’s Shaimaa Elgammal. Shaito then fell in the round of 32 against Elisa Di Francisca of Italy.
