Mavericks Denied Sweep as Timberwolves Force Game 5 with 105-100 Victory

The Dallas Mavericks’ bid for a sweep in the Western Conference Finals was thwarted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in a tightly contested Game 4 at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday night. The final score was 105-100 in favor of the Timberwolves, forcing a Game 5 back in Minnesota.

Luka Doncic continued his impressive playoff run for the Mavericks, recording a triple-double with 28 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. However, the Timberwolves received key contributions from multiple players to overcome foul trouble for their three All-Stars – Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and Rudy Gobert.

Edwards led the way for Minnesota with 29 points, showcasing his explosive scoring ability. Mike Conley also had a strong performance, contributing 22 points and several clutch plays down the stretch. Towns, despite battling foul trouble, finished with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Defensively, both teams battled for control throughout the game. Despite missing key free throws in the closing minutes, the Timberwolves were able to hold on for the victory. Gobert’s presence in the paint was a major factor, limiting the Mavericks’ opportunities at the rim.

The win keeps the Timberwolves’ season alive, forcing a return to Minneapolis for a pivotal Game 5 on Thursday night. The Mavericks will look to close out the series on the road and advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011.
