MONROE, La. – ULM used a big second half rally to get past the North Texas men’s basketball team 85-73 at Fant Ewing Coliseum. The Mean Green let a second half lead of 15 points slip away as the Warhawks (4-17, 3-13) knocked off North Texas(9-18, 4-12) for the second time this season.

“I give ULM credit, we played 20 minutes of basketball and didn’t execute very well in the second half and we didn’t do a good job contesting their shots tonight,” said head coach Tony Benford.

North Texas led 52-37 with 16:41 left, but ULM used an 18-2 run to take a 55-54 lead with 9:50 remaining. Millaun Brown keyed the big second half run for the Warhawks as he had a career night for ULM with 21 points and eight rebounds, hitting 9-of-10 shots from the floor.

The Warhawks continued to pour it on as they extended their lead to nine points at 69-60 and didn’t relinquish the lead the remaining six minutes.

Jordan Williams and Roger Franklin led North Texas with 22 points apiece. It is the seventh straight game of 15 points or more for Williams.

Franklin had his third double-double of the season with 11 rebounds to go along with his 22 points. Tony Mitchell had five blocked shots on the night and broke his own school record for most blocked shots in a single season. Mitchell has 73 on the year, breaking the record of 70 he set last season.

ULM used long distance shooting to race out to an early six-point lead over North Texas. The Warhawks hit three 3-pointers in the first seven minutes of the game to open up an 18-12 lead with 11:10 left in the half.

North Texas cranked up the defense late in the first half and Williams fueled a 15-5 run for the Mean Green. Williams knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers and then finished the half with a 3-point play with 9.1 seconds to give North Texas a 42-33 lead at the half. Williams finished with 15 first half points.

North Texas continues the road trip Saturday night as they face the Troy Trojans at 7:30.
