Naggar Repeats As AAC Special Teams Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – Mustang Chris Naggar earned American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, while Ulysses Bentley IV and Shane Buechele were named to the Weekly Honor Roll, league officials announced Monday.
 
Naggar went a perfect 8-for-8 on PATs and connected on field goal attempts of 22, 37 and 46 yards to stay perfect on the season. He also had five touchbacks on 10 kickoffs for a total of 620 yards.
 
The senior is 12-for-12 on PATs for the season and 4-for-4 on field goals.
 
Naggar shared weekly honors with Navy kicker Bijan Nichols.
 
Bentley IV had a career day with 227 rushing yards and three touchdowns off 19 carries. It was the fourth best single-game rushing yard performance in SMU history, and his 84-yard TD run was tied for the seventh longest in program history.
 
Buechele went 24-for-33 for 344 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 29 yards on the ground and a rushing TD. He was also named the College Football Performance Awards’ National Performer of the Week and is a Manning Award Star of the Week.
 
The 300-yard game was Buechele’s seventh at SMU and ninth overall, and the four passing TDs put his career total at 69, with 39 coming as a Mustang.
