Newton wins Heisman

Cam Newton of Auburn University was named as the 76th winner of the Heisman Memorial Trophy as the Most Outstanding College Football Player in the United States for 2010.

Newton, of College Park, GA, has completed 165 of 246 passes for 2,589 yards and 28 touchdowns.  Newton also has rushed for 1,409 yards and 20 touchdowns on 242 carries and caught 2 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown.  Both his passing and rushing touchdowns are best in school history.

Newton led the Tigers to an undefeated regular season and number 1 national ranking with a 13-0 record.  Newton was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year and will lead Auburn in the BCS Championship game on January 10th against Oregon.
