LAFAYETTE, La. – No. 60 North Texas tennis players Kseniya Bardabush, Franziska Sprinkmeyer and Barbora Vykydalova were named to Sun Belt Conference All-Conference teams on Wednesday evening.

“These ladies have worked hard and truly deserve this honor,” head coach Sujay Lama said. “This is the first time that we have two singles All-Conference and that speaks for how well our top players have performed.”

Bardabush was named to the SBC All-Conference First-Team in singles after compiling a 4-1 record in Sun Belt play. Key wins for Bardabush included a 6-3, 6-2 victory over fellow first-team member Karoline Grymel of Troy as well as a 7-5, 6-1 victory over South Alabama’s Emily Newton.

Vykydalova, who is 12-6 for the season and 3-1 in SBC play, was named SBC All-Conference Second Team in singles. Vykydalova defeated No. 95 Simona Parajova of TCU in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6, in February.

“Barbora is a great story because she wasn’t even in the line up this time last year,” Lama said about the team captain. “The work she put in this past year and the sacrifices she made have made her an All-Conference honoree. “

Bardabush partnered with fellow Sprinkmeyer were named to the SBC All-Conference Second Team in doubles. The duo assembled an 8-4 record on the season.

“To have our sophomore team get the nod for doubles is great,” Lama added. “Franziska and Kseniya have such a bright future ahead of them.”

No. 60 North Texas will begin its quest for back-to-back conference titles on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. when it takes on the winner of No. 8 seed FIU and No. 9 UALR.

Matches will take place at the Cajun Courts, Red Lerille’s Health & Raquet Club and Bourgeois Hall in Lafayette, La.
