Scheffler Triumphs at PGA Championship at Quail Hollow
|Scottie Scheffler claimed his first Wanamaker Trophy and third major championship title at the 2025 PGA Championship held at Quail Hollow Club.
Scheffler, fresh off an eight-shot win at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch, navigated an adventurous front nine and turned things around on the inward nine to win by five shots over Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English and reigning Charles Schwab Challenge champion Davis Riley.
“This back nine will be one that I remember for a long time,” Scheffler said. “To step up when I needed to the most, I’ll remember that for a while.”
The tournament saw several big names vying for the title led by Jon Rahm, who mounted front-nine charge to tie Scheffler for the lead but ultimately finished T8 due to the treacherous Green Mile three-hole stretch from 16-18.
Defending champion Xander Schauffele finished in a tie for 28th at 1-under.
Masters champion Rory McIlroy, a favorite coming in to the week due in no small part to his past success at Quail Hollow Club during the annual PGA Tour stop in Charlotte, T47 at 3-over.
Quail Hollow proved to be a demanding course, testing the players’ abilities with its length, thick rough, and firm greens.
This victory further solidifies Scheffler’s position as the top-ranked golfer in the world and adds to his impressive record.
Next up for the 15-time PGA Tour winner is a home game at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, TX.
