SMU Announces Basketball Signees

DALLAS (SMU) – Sedrick Barefield, Jarrey Foster and Malik “Shake” Milton have signed National Letters of Intent to play at SMU beginning with the 2015-16 season, Head Coach Larry Brown announced Wednesday.

Milton (G, 6-5, 190) is a four-star guard from Owasso High School in Oklahoma. He was the State’s Gatorade Player of the Year in 2013-14 after averaging 28.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists. Barefield (G, 6-2, 185) is a three-star guard from Centennial High School in Corona, California. He averaged 17.4 points, 4.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds as a junior. Foster (F, 6-5, 190) is a three-star guard for North Shore High School in Houston. As a junior, he averaged 12.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals in leading North Shore to its first Class 5A state championship. Foster was named championship game MVP after posting 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The No. 22/22 Mustangs open the 2014-15 season by hosting Lamar at Moody Coliseum on Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Sedrick Barefield (G, 6-2, 185) is a guard for Coach Josh Giles at Centennial High School in Corona, California. In his junior season, Barefield averaged 17.4 points, 4.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds to lead Centennial to the CIF Division I State Playoffs Championship game. The Co-MVP of the Big VIII league helped his team to a 29-4 record and with a perfect 10-0 mark in league. The three-star top-150 guard played AAU for the Compton Magic.

Jarrey Foster (F, 6-5, 190) is a guard for Coach David Green at North Shore High School in Houston. He averaged 12.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals as a junior. North Shore won its first

Class 5A state championship, where Foster was named game MVP after posting 16 points and 10 rebounds. The three-star forward played AAU for Coach Mike Jones with M&E Elite.

Malik “Shake” Milton (G, 6-5, 190) is a guard for Coach Mark Vancuren at Owasso High School in Oklahoma. As a junior, he was the State’s Gatorade Player of the Year after averaging 28.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists as Owasso went 21-6 and reached the State quarterfinals. In the 2014 EYBL, Milton’s team went 14-7 as he averaged 11.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.1 steals. He played AAU for team MOKAN Elite. The four-star guard is rated as high as the top player in Oklahoma and as high as No. 67 nationally.
