The SMU Mustangs are bowl-eligible for a school-record 4th consecutive season.  The Mustangs defeated Tulsa 35-27 in the regular season finale at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.  SMU is 15-1 at home against C-USA teams since 2009.  SMU will join the Big East conference next season.

SMU senior linebacker Ja’Gared Davis ended his career in front of the home crowd with a huge game.  Davis blocked a punt, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, and intercepted a pass.

Running back Zach Line gained 81 rushing yards to give him 1207 on the season.  Line becomes the first player in SMU history to record three 1200 yard seasons.  Line has 4114 career yards, second only to Eric Dickerson in the SMU record book.  Line scored 3 rushing touchdowns to give him 46 in his career.  Dickerson had 47.

Quarterback Garret Gilbert gained 111 yards on the ground, mostly from a 74-yard TD run in the 2nd quarter.  Gilbert added 113 yards passing on 10 of 27 attempts.

The Mustangs now await a formal bowl invitation.
