SMU Defeats Wyoming

DALLAS — Nic Moore had 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting on Friday night, and SMU rallied to hand Wyoming its first loss of the season, 66-53.

Moore finished 3 of 4 from 3-point range and scored 12 of his points during a 22-3 SMU run that ended at 58-45 on Ben Moore’s free throws with 1:44 left.

Wyoming (7-1) made back-to-back 3-pointers to close within 60-51 with 1:09 left, but the Mustangs (5-3) made all four free throws in the final minute with Moore dunking to punctuate their comeback.

Yanick Moreira had 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Moore added 14 points and eight rebounds for SMU, which shot 23 of 41 from the field.

The Cowboys trailed 26-24 at halftime, but took their biggest lead at 42-36 on Jason McManamen’s 3-pointer just before SMU’s late rally.

Riley Grabau and Derek Cooke Jr. led Wyoming with 15 points each.

The Mustangs are back in action Monday, Dec. 8 when they host UC Santa Barbara at Moody Coliseum. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on CBS Sports Network. The game is sold out. Reseller tickets can be purchased online at VividSeats.com.
