SMU Downs Missouri State

The SMU Mustangs defeated Missouri State 62-61 on a jumper by Nick Russell with 10 seconds left in the third-place game of the Hoops for Hope Classic in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Russell led the Mustangs with a career-high 25 points.   Russell is averaging a team-best 16 points per game.  Jalen Jones added 17 points.  It is the 6th time in 7 games that Jones has scored in double figures.

Ryan Manuel scored 9 points for SMU and made a key blocked shot with 4 seconds left to seal the win.

SMU was outrebounded for the first time this season.  Missouri controlled the boards 30-28.

The Mustangs bring their 6-1 record back to Moody Coliseum on Wednesday to take on Utah.  Tip-off is 7:00pm.
