SMU Downs Tulane

The SMU Mustangs earned their first conference win of the year with a 59-53 victory over Tulane Saturday at Moody Coliseum.   The Mustangs improved to 11-7 overall, 1-2 in C-USA.

Four Mustangs scored in double-digits, led by Nick Russell with 13 points.  London Giles, Ryan Manuel, and Jalen Jones each added 10 points for SMU.  The Mustang bench outscored Tulanes reserves 10-2.

SMU forced 21 turnovers, most in the season and 2nd most in a C-USA game in school history.  The Mustangs also added 8 blocks and 11 steals in the defensive effort.

Cannen Cunningham matched a career-high with 3 blocks and 4 assists.  Jalen Jones’ 4 steals ties a career high.  

SMU is 6-2 at home and will host Southern Miss on Wednesday.  Tip-off is 7:00pm.
