SMU Drops Road Game At Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Will Barton scored 24 points, Tarik Black added 11 points and 13 rebounds and Memphis used a second-half rally to defeat SMU 63-45 on Saturday.

SMU led the Tigers (13-6, 4-1 Conference USA) 36-35 with 13 minutes to play, but were outscored the 19-2 over the next 11 minutes.

Robert Nyakundi, Jeremiah Samarrippas and Jalen Jones all finished with 10 points each for the Mustangs (10-9, 2-3), who lost their third in the last four. Samarrippas handed out six assists and had four steals.

Memphis controlled the boards 36-27, including 13 off the offensive glass, leading to 14 second-chance points.

Memphis had 9-point lead, 30-21, in the first half but SMU closed out the period with seven straight points to lead 30-28 at the break.

The Mustangs are back in action next Wednesday, Jan. 25 when they travel to New Orleans, La. to do battle with Tulane. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT. Live video, live stats and live audio will be available at smumustangs.com.
