SMU Falls to Oklahoma State in The Showcase

The SMU Mustangs fell short in double overtime at The Showcase in the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night.  Oklahoma State pulled away in the 2nd overtime period for the 68-58 victory in the first game of the double-header.

Robert Nyakundi of SMU scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.  Nyakundi extended his C-USA lead from 3-point range, hitting 3 of 6 to give him a season average of 48.6%.

Shawn Williams scored 11 points and added 3 steals and a block.  Jeremiah Samarrippas had a season-high 8 assists.

Oklahoma State was led by Keiton Page, who had 27 points.

The Mustangs failed to score in the 2nd overtime period, missing on 6 attempts.   Cezar Guerrero scored 7 of OSU’s 10 points in the period.

SMU returns to play on Saturday against Louisiana Tech at Moody Coliseum.  Game time is 1:00pm.
