SMU Falls To Rice 68-52

The SMU Mustangs lost at home for the first time this season with a 68-52 beating at the hands of Rice.  The Mustangs drop to 1-1 in C-USA, 9-7 overall.

Robert Nyakundi led SMU with 14 points, the 14th time this season he has scored in double-digits.  Nyakundi added 4 rebounds, a steal, and a block.  

Jeremiah Samarrippas scored 12 for the Mustangs, with 3 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Ryan Manuel added 7 points, 2 steals, and an assist.

Rice began the game on a 7-0 run and never trailed in the contest.  The Owls were led by Arsalan Kazemi, who scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

SMU travels to UTEP for a matchup with the Miners on Saturday night.
