SMU Falls To UCF

The SMU Mustangs fell to UCF on Saturday in Orlando.  The Mustangs could not match the UCF offense, losing 42-17.

SMU running back Zach Line finished with 96 yards on 21 carries, but was limited in the 2nd half as the Mustangs were forced to the air.  Line passed SMU great Reggie Dupard to move into 2nd place for all-time SMU rushing yards, trailing only Eric Dickerson.

Quarterback Garrett Gilbert completed 16 of 29 passes for 133 yards.  Gilbert was sacked 3 times.

UCF running back Latavius Murray rushed for 155 yards and scored twice to lead the Knights.  Quarterback Blake Bortles efficiently completed 10 of 15 passes as UCF converted 7 of 10 third downs.

SMU drops to 4-5 overall, 3-2 in the C-USA.  The Mustangs host Southern Mississippi on Saturday at Gerald J Ford Stadium.
