{fshare id=5714}

Quarterback Matt Davis made his first start for the SMU Mustangs a memorable one as he threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to Der’rikk Thompson on the very first offensive play against Tulsa.  It was the longest play from scrimmage for the Mustangs this season and gave SMU it’s first lead of the season.

Davis would also have SMU’s longest rushing play of the season, a 51 yard run in the 4th quarter.  Davis would account for 393 total yards in the game (212 passing, 181 rushing.)

Tulsa quarterback Dane Evans had an even better game, throwing for 5 touchdowns as the Hurricane defeated the Mustangs 38-28.

The Mustangs had their best offensive showing of the season, but failed to get a victory, falling to 0-8 on the season.  They return home to face USF next Saturday.
