SMU M-Tennis Loses To No. 4 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (SMU) – The SMU men’s tennis team lost to No. 4 Texas 6-1 in Austin on Saturday. With the loss, the Mustangs move to 3-4 on the season.

No. 36 Artem Baradach earned the lone point for SMU as he defeated No. 91 Eddie Corrie 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 1 spot. Baradach holds a 6-1 record this year.

David Costa and Bryan Griffin lost to No. 61 Kellen Damico 6-1, 6-0 and No. 93 Vasko Mladenov 6-2,6-3, respectively. Mischa Nowicki fell to Daniel Whitehead 6-0, 6-2, David Holiner defeated Tobias Flood 7-6, 6-4 and Adham el-Effendi lost to Sudanwa Sitaram 6-4, 6-1 to round out singles play.

In doubles action, the Longhorns went 3-0 against the Mustangs to secure the doubles point. The No. 27 pairing of Damico and Holiner defeated el-Effendi and Baradach 8-3. Corrie and Whitehead were able to hold off Hattrup and Flood 8-6, while the duo of Chris Camillone and Mladenov paired up to beat Costa and Nowicki 8-3.

The Mustangs host Tulsa at Turpin Tennis Center on March 3 at 2 p.m.
