SMU M-Tennis Shuts Out Utah State 7-0
|DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men’s tennis team shut out Utah State with a dominating 7-0 win Thursday. With the victory, the Mustangs move to 3-3 on the season.
No. 36 Artem Baradach turned in another strong performance for SMU, defeating Sven Posluny 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 spot. Baradach earned a win in his doubles match as he paired with Adham el-Effendi to defeat the No. 65 duo of Bryan Marchant and Poslusny 8-6.
El-Effendi held on to win his singles match in three sets against Marchant 6-4, 5-7, 10-8.
Tobias Flood downed Nikita Ryashchenko 6-4, 6-0 in singles play. In his doubles match, Flood and Joseph Hattrup beat Fredrik Peterson and Alex Thatcher 8-3.
Also picking up two wins on the day was Mischa Nowicki, who defeated Thatcher 6-2, 7-5 in singles play. In doubles, Nowicki and Gaston Cuadranti edged out Jakob Asplund and Ryashchenko 8-6.
Rounding out the singles competition, David Costa beat Asplund 6-3, 6-2, while Bryan Griffin won his match against Peterson 6-0, 6-3.
SMU plays Texas in Austin on Saturday at 1 p.m.
