SMU Mustangs Add 6 More All-America Titles On Day 2 Of NCAA Swim Championships

AUBURN, Ala. (SMU) – The SMU women’s swimming and diving team added six All-America titles on the second day of competition at the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship Friday night. The Mustangs have earned a total of 14 All-America honors through the first two days.

SMU opened the night with a 12th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Therese Svendsen, Rachel Nicol, Denisa Smolenova and Genny Konicke finished in a time of 1:38.27, earning 10 points for the Ponies.

Svendsen earned her third All-America nod of the meet as she placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in with a time of 52.16. With the finish, Svendsen collected 13 points for SMU.

Rangelova also picked up her third All-America honor with a 15th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. The sophomore standout touched the wall in a time of 1:45.77.

Smolenova and Konicke swam the 100-yard butterfly, finishing tied-26th (52.23) and 41st (54.14), respectively. Nicol (31st, 1:01.16) and Erica Donadon (48th, 1:03.44) competed in the 100-yard breaststroke. Isabella Arcila placed 35th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.64.
