SMU Rolls Over Memphis

The SMU Mustangs destroyed the Memphis Tigers 42-0 at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis.  It is the first shutout for the Mustangs in 13 years.

SMU improves it’s record to 3-1 for the first time since 1992, before many of the current players were born.  It is the Mustangs’ 4th straight C-USA victory.

Running back Zach Line score 3 touchdowns in the game, giving him 11 on the season. Line gained 136 yards on 20 carries.

J.J. McDermott led the Mustangs passing attack, completing 28 of 44 attempts for 357 yards and 3 touchdowns – all career bests.

Wide receiver Darius Johnson made 10 catches for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Der’rikk Thompson made his first catches as a Mustang, grabbing 6 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown.  Cole Beasley made 3 catches, giving him 200 for his career before leaving the game with an injury.

Linebacker Taylor Reed made 10 tackles, including his 2nd sack on the year.

SMU goes out of the conference next week to face No. 20 TCU in Fort Worth.
