DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men’s soccer team picked up a 3-1 victory over Oral Roberts on Sunday evening in exhibition action at Westcott Field.

Sophomores Michael King, John Lujano and Will Smith provided the SMU offense with a goal each.

The Mustangs got the scoring started in the 15th minute off a free kick played into the box from junior Andrew Morales. The long ball was misplayed by the ORU keeper and King found the back of the net with his head.

ORU evened the score when sophomore Edgardo Mira got on the end of a clearance just outside the 18-yard box and slipped the ball by senior goalkeeper Jaime Ibarra. It wasn’t a minute later that SMU regained the lead off a shot from inside the six from Lujano. Freshman Stanton Garcia was credited with the assist.

The Mustangs’ insurance goal came in the 82nd minute when Smith connected off a shot from six off a combination from junior Edu Aranda and freshman Nicholas Petrucelli.
