DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men’s soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Incarnate Word in its final exhibition contest at Westcott Field on Saturday evening.

The teams combined for 25 shots and nine corner kicks in the contest, but both goalkeepers were able to spoil offensive chances with three saves apiece.

The Cardinals, out of the Western Athletic Conference, are in their second season as an NCAA Division I program. In its last season as a Division II affiliate, UIW reached the Elite Eight of the National Tournament.

Tonight’s match marked SMU’s third preseason tune-up, with the Mustangs earning a 2-0 victory over UT Dallas on Wednesday and a 1-1 draw with Houston Baptist nearly a week ago.

The Mustangs open the 2014 season on Friday when they travel to East Lansing to take on Michigan State. The road trip concludes on Sunday with a match at Michigan. Check SMUMustangs.com for ways to follow.
