SMU Track Climbs Three Spots To No. 15

NEW ORLEANS (SMU) – The SMU track and field team moved up three spots to rank No. 15 in the latest USTFCCCA team computer rankings, released Tuesday, April 26. The Mustangs have accumulated 113.94 points in the index and are the highest ranked non-BCS automatic qualifying school. Complete top-25 rankings are available here.

The Mustangs continue to thrive on their strength in the field events. Junior Simone Du Toit holds the nation’s second best score in the discus, with a 58.81 meter toss. Freshman Lisa Egarter is tied for third in the country after clearing the 1.85 meter mark in the high jump at the Bryan Clay Invitational. du Toit is also just outside the top-10 in the shot put, ranking 11th.

LSU overtook Texas A&M for the top spot in this week’s poll, with Oregon, Clemson and Southern California rounding out the top-five. UCF is the only other Conference USA team in the top-25, climbing 10 spots to No. 17.

The Mustangs wrap up the regular season Saturday, April 30, at the Mean Green Twilight hosted by North Texas, before competing in the Conference USA Championships in Houston, Texas, May 12-15.
