SMU Track Sets Several Records At Iowa State Classic

AMES, Iowa (SMU) — The SMU track team set several records during its performance at the Iowa State Classic. Multiple Mustang athletes impressed during their trip to the event hosted by Iowa State University.

Mary Alenbratt finished the One Mile Run in 4:47.70, which is a new school record and nine seconds faster than her time in last year’s event. Finishing shortly behind Alenbratt, Klara Bodinson accomplished a personal best time with a 4:51.74 run. The time beat her previous best by over eight seconds. Lovisa Lindh placed eighth with a 2:10.44 time in the 800 Meter Run.

In the shot put, Simone Du Toit set a meet record with a 17.41 meter throw in the event. Du Toit, who has already qualified for the NCAA Championships, continued on her impressive season by winning the event. Helena Perez came in fifth place with a 14.33 throw.

Sprinter Amber Evans set a new school record with a 7.64 run in the 60 Meter Dash. Evans also placed ninth in the 200 Meter Dash with a 24.75 run. Lakeisha James bested her personal record in the 600 Yard Run with a 1:25.55 time.
