SMU Volleyball Travels To Long Beach For Baden Classic

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU volleyball team travels to Long Beach, Calif., this weekend for the Baden Classic, the third of four tournaments leading up to conference play. The Mustangs will open the tournament Friday against Oregon State at 1 p.m. CT. Friday night SMU faces host Long Beach State, ranked 22 in the AVCA Top-25 Coaches Poll, before wrapping up the tournament against Utah State Saturday at 7 p.m.

SMU enters the tournament with a 3-3 record after going 2-1 in its own Doubletree Classic, outlasting Alabama for a 3-2 win in the final match. Sidney Stewart continues to lead Conference USA, averaging 6.67 digs per set, after setting a school record with 42 digs against Alabama.

Dana Powell leads the Mustangs and is seventh in the league in kills, averaging 3.62 per set. Kelli Becerra ranks fifth in C-USA with 10.86 assists per set.
