SMU’s Darius Johnson Named C-USA Offensive Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas (C-USA/SMU) – SMU junior wide receiver Darius Johnson has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced.

Johnson had a career-high-tying two receiving touchdowns, along with 12 catches and 152 yards as SMU brought home the Iron Skillet, besting No. 20 TCU, 40-33. It was SMU’s first win over a ranked team since defeating No. 22 TCU, 21-10, in Dallas on Sept. 10, 2005, and its first road victory over a ranked opponent since topping No. 13 Baylor on Oct. 11, 1986 in Waco. It was Johnson’s third straight 100-yard game, and his third career game with 10 or more catches, tying him for third all-time at SMU.

This is his first career C-USA Player of the week honor. C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league’s media.
