SMU’s Du Toit Named USTFCCCA All-American

NEW ORLEANS (SMU) — Following a strong indoor season, SMU track and field athlete Simone Du Toit was selected as a First Team USTFCCCA All-American.

This past weekend du Toit placed sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the shot put with a 17.00 meter throw. The competition wrapped up an impressive year for the junior, which included a Conference USA championship and the fourth-longest shot put mark (17.49 meters) in the nation. The Johannesburg, South Africa native twice earned C-USA Athlete of the Week honors this season.

Du Toit and the Mustangs kick off the outdoor season this weekend with the TCU Invitational on Mar. 18 in Fort Worth.
