SMU’s Manning Named C-USA Preseason All-Conference

IRVING, Texas (SMU) – Courtney Manning was named to the All-Conference USA Preseason Team, league officials announced. The senior middle blocker led the nation with a single-season school record 185 blocks as a junior last season.

Manning was 10th in the NCAA, averaging 1.45 blocks per set, and had a team-high .307 hitting percentage with 274 kills. The Mesquite, Texas native enters her senior season 11th all-time in Conference USA and third at SMU with 475 career blocks.

The Mustangs host an intrasquad scrimmage Thursday at 6 p.m. in Moody Coliseum, with the regular season opener on Friday, Aug. 24 against Charleston Southern at 3:30 p.m. CT at the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta, Ga. SMU will host its first home match against Wichita State at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6 in the opening round of the SMU Classic.
