SMU’s Rangelova Named C-USA Swimmer Of The Week

IRVING, Texas (SMU) – SMU swimmer Nina Rangelova has been named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week after posting three of the nation’s top times at the AT&T Swimming Winter National Championships and setting two national records for her native Bulgaria.

The meet was held as a long course competition. Rangelova set the mark in the 400-meter freestyle, where she was fifth with a personal-best time of 4:12.21, which converts to a 4:20.46 500-yard freestyle, approximately. She also recorded a country-best in the 100-meter freestyle, winning the ‘B’ final to finish 11th overall, clocking in with a time of 55.54, or 48.54, if converted to short course time. The sophomore had another strong performance in the 200-meter freestyle, coming in sixth overall with a time of 2:00.02 (1:44.90).

This is the second Swimmer of the Week award this season and for Rangelova’s career.

SMU competes in the Chesapeake Elite Meet Dec. 15-17 in Oklahoma City.
