SMU’s Redman Earns Honors

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU junior Shelby Redman was named to the CoSida Academic All-District Second Team, the organization announced Thursday.

Redman, an advertising major, boasts a 3.44 GPA and leads SMU with eight goals and 19 points in 17 starts this season. Redman has tallied two game-winning goals this season, clinching victories against TCU on Sept. 12 and against Cincinnati on Oct. 6.

Redman has been climbing the all-time goal scoring list at SMU, and is currently tied for 17th in program history with 19 career goals. Redman leads SMU with 59 shots this season, and is 12th in career shots at SMU with 166.

The junior was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Aug. 26 after scoring three goals in two games against ULM and Arkansas. Redman was also named to the preseason all-conference team, and is currently rated as the seventh-best player in the American according to TopDrawerSoccer.com.

SMU will take on Temple in the first round of the inaugural American Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championships tomorrow at 6 p.m., in Orlando, Fla. With a win, SMU would advance to play regular season champion and 17th-ranked UCF in the quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.
