Spieth Leads, Mickelson Misses the Cut at Colonial

Friday was a tale of two past Colonial champions as Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson were paired together at the Charles Schwab Challenge. While Spieth would fire his second consecutive bogey free round to take the solo lead into the weekend, Mickelson bogey two of his last three holes to miss the cut by one stroke.

Spieth is 11-under, one shot ahead of Jason Kokrak, who fired back-to-back 65s to sit at 10-under going into the third round.

First round co-leader Sergio Garcia shot a 1-under 69 to sit three shots behind Spieth at 8-under.

Charley Hoffman shot a 62 to vault 51 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for sixth at 7-under.

2020 PGA Champion Collin Morikawa in a tie for 11th at 5-under following a second round 66.

2020 Colonial champion and 2018 Colonial champion Justin Rose are in a group tied for 16th at 4-under.

The Players Championship winner Justin Thomas, playing in his second Colonial, overcame an opening round 72 with a solid 66 to sit at 2-under going into the weekend.

2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed missed the cut after he bogeyed No. 18 on Friday.

Other notables getting the weekend off included Scottie Scheffler, Sungjae Im, Lee Westwood, Cameron Champ, Jimmy Walker and Henrik Stenson.
