Stars Lose To Bruins

by Melissa Bosau

Coming home from a six-game losing streak after losing to the Washington Capitals 4-3, the Dallas Stars faced the Boston Bruins at the American Airlines Center on Friday night. The Stars extended their losing streak to seven games as they lost 3-2 to the Bruins. The Stars are three points out of a playoff spot.

Stars goalkeeper Kari Lehtonen made 33 stops in the 3-2 loss while Boston’s Tukka Rask made 40 stops.

The Stars began the game off with a 1-0 lead as Esa Lindell scored a wrister that went top shelf on Tukka Rask in the first period. Curtis McKenzie and Jason Dickinson got the assist on Lindell’s 7th goal of the season.
Captain Jamie Benn made it 2-0 with .37 seconds left in the second period with his 28th goal of the season on a shorthanded breakaway after Tyler Seguin fed him the puck.
Boston makes it 2-1 just 1:17 into the third period as David Pastrnak makes a nice move across the offensive zone and beats Kari Lehtonen who can’t get his stick hand up as Brad Marchand was tangled up at the top of the crease. It was Brad Marchand’s 32nd goal of the season. Just 37 seconds into a Dallas power play, Tim Schaller scores shorthanded on a nice move to make it 2-2 with his 11th goal of the season as Marchand and Miller got the assists on the goal.
The Bruins took the lead as  David Pastrnak scored the winner against Lehtonen to make it 3-2 at the 19:48 mark in the third period.
With the loss against the Bruins, the Stars playoff chances diminished.

The Stars’ next game is Sunday when they face the Vancouver Canucks for a 6pm start.
