UNT Signs 23 For 2013 Season

DENTON, Texas – North Texas head football coach Dan McCarney has announced that 23 players have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Mean Green beginning in 2013. The class includes 14 high school players, five junior college transfers, and four FBS transfers that will be eligible in the fall. Of the 23 players that have signed or are already enrolled, 19 of them are from Texas.

“We were very thorough in addressing our needs and this class does a good job of helping us in the areas where we have shortcomings,” Head Coach Dan McCarney said. “There is a tremendous influence of Texas high school talent in this class and that will always be a focus of ours. The Mean Green football program got better today.”

McCarney and his staff recruited 13 offensive players and 10 defensive players, which includes five offensive lineman to help replace two starters lost to graduation.

The Mean Green signed three wide receivers to bolster the unit which must replace last seasons leading receiver Ivan Delago. On the defensive side of the ball North Texas signed five defensive backs, which includes two junior college transfers already enrolled in school.

The class also includes four FBS transfers, Brock Berglund from Kansas, Zed Evans from Louisville, Reggie Pegram from Purdue, and Darius Terrell from Texas. All four players will be eligible for the 2013 season.
