DENTON, Texas – Courtney Windham poured in a match-high 13 kills and Addason Lamb added six aces as North Texas routed cross-town rival SMU, 3-0, in the squad’s lone spring home match (25-23, 25-12, 25-15).

“I think every program wants to have an identity,” said North Texas head coach Ken Murczek. “The identity we try to have is one of great energy on the defensive end of the floor, and our team did a great job with that tonight. I’m really excited about our effort tonight against a talented SMU team.”

Over 400 packed into the Mean Green Volleyball Center to see the home debuts of South Carolina transfer Hanna Forst and redshirt freshman Analisse Shannon, who shined with six kills each. The duo helped the Mean Green claw out of a 3-1 hole to start the first set with a 9-0 run. Lamb landed three aces in the opening set to give NT a 25-23 set win.

NT jumped out to big leads in the second and third sets thanks to Windham. The sophomore’s block capped a 7-1 North Texas run to open the third frame, and the Ponies wouldn’t recover.

North Texas closes out the spring season on April 28 at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
