UNT Women’s Soccer Falls To UC Riverside

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- North Texas soccer fell 2-1 to UC Riverside on Friday at the UNM Soccer Complex. Kelsey Petty scored her first career goal for the Mean Green in the losing effort.

North Texas started the scoring in the 36th minute, when Kelsey Petty scored her first career goal, giving the Mean Green a 1-0 lead. Kelsey Perlman had her second assist of the season on the play. North Texas’ lead was short-lived, as Andrea Morales scored just 42 seconds later, in the 37th minute, for UC Riverside to tie the score at 1.

Riverside’s Celina Valencia scored in the 97th minute to give the Highlanders the game winner. UC Riverside is 4-4-1 on the season, while the Mean Green fall to 5-2-1.

North Texas had 8 shots on goal to Riverside’s 3. North Texas earned four corner kicks to UCR’s two.

The Mean Green take on Cal State Fullerton to finish the Nike Classic in Albuquerque on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT. North Texas returns to the Mean Green Soccer Complex on Friday, September 23 to take on Western Kentucky at 7 p.m.
