DENTON, Texas – Carnae Dillard led the North Texas volleyball team to a win over Baylor and a 2-0 start in Sun Belt play last week, and on Monday the league awarded her conference Player of the Week honors.

Dillard is the catalyst to the Mean Green volleyball team’s six match win streak thanks to her newfound pinpoint accuracy. Over the last five matches, Dillard has landed 4.59 kills per set on a blistering .363 attack percentage. By comparison, the freshman’s first 16 matches of the year featured 3.21 kills per set on .136 hitting.

Dillard’s efforts have helped the Mean Green’s attacking numbers skyrocket. North Texas is hitting .300 as a team in this six-match win streak, which is up from the respectable .209 mark over the season’s first 16 matches. North Texas’ kills per set is also up to 13.2 from 11.0.

The freshman landed 4.82 kills per set on .357 hitting this week, including a .581 mark against ULM -the third highest attack percentage by a Sun Belt player this year.

The award is Dillard’s first and the first for the Mean Green this season. NT will face Arkansas State and UALR on the road this weekend.
