With 2 on base and the score tied in the 11th inning, Adrian Beltre stepped up to the plate as a pinch-hitter and delivered a crushing 3-run home run to give the Texas Rangers a 5-3 win over the Cleveland Indians.

The Rangers needed the win to break a 3-game losing streak.  It appeared Texas may give the game away when the Indians scored 2 in the bottom of the 8th inning after being held scoreless through 7.  The Rangers were able to stop Cleveland, but were unable to generate more offense as the game went into extra innings.

Texas starter Derek Holland dominated through the first 7 innings, but gave up the tying runs in the 8th.  Alexi Ogando earned the win, striking out 2 in 2 innings.  Joe Nathan held on for his 7th save, fanning 2 in the final inning.

Designated hitter Mitch Moreland went 3-for-4 in the game, Ian Kinsler, Elvis Andrus, and Mike Napoli each got 2 hits in the game.

Rangers manager Ron Washington was thrilled with the win, saying “This is our biggest win of the year so far. We’ve been spinning our wheels and not getting anywhere.”

The Rangers and Indians play again today at 12:05.
