Rangers Rout Red Sox

The Texas Rangers routed the Boston Red Sox 18-3 Tuesday night in Fenway Park.  The Rangers hit 6 home runs in the game, including 2 by Mike Napoli.

Texas spotted Boston 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st, but came right back with 4 runs in the 2nd.  Napoli put 2 runs on the board with the first of his homers.  The Rangers added 3 more in the 3rd inning for a 7-2 lead.

Texas built their lead to 8-2 going into the 8th inning when things really let loose.  Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre hit back to back home runs.   After a David Murphy walk, Nelson Cruz hit a home run, Napoli, Craig Gentry, and Elvis Andrus each got hits as the Rangers put 8 more runs on the board.

Each of the Rangers starters got at least one hit during the game as the team put up 21 total hits.

Napoli finished the Rangers scoring with his 2nd home run in the 9th inning.

Starting pitcher Colby Lewis went 7 innings for the Rangers, improving his record to 2-0.  Lewis struck out 7 while giving up 2 runs.  Koji Uehara came on in relief and gave up 1 run before turning the game over to Mark Lowe for the 9th inning save.

The 9-2 Rangers finish their 2-game series in Boston tonight.
