The Texas Rangers finished the opening series with the Houston Astros with a 4-0 shutout at Minute Maid Park.  The Rangers returned Alexi Ogando to the starting rotation after being used in the relief bullpen last season.  Ogando responded with a career-high 10 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings while giving up just 4 hits.

The Rangers pitchers set a Major League record for strikeouts in the first 3 games of the season with 43.  All 3 starters in the series set career high marks in strikeouts.

Lance Berkman, Nelson Cruz, and A.J. Pierzynski each continued their hitting streak to open the season.  Cruz has had multiple hits in each game this year.

The Rangers have a day off before hosting the Angels in the home opener on Friday at the Ballpark in Arlington.
