Rangers win series in Baltimore

The Texas Rangers clinched their 3rd consecutive series win Sunday with a 3-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.  The Rangers are now 8-1 for only the 2nd time in franchise history (1989).

Derek Holland pitched 6 scoreless innings, giving up just 5 hits for his 2nd win of the year.  Rangers manager Ron Washington likes what he is seeing from his young pitcher, “I liked the way he was able to pitch around trouble.  He got into some situations where a big base hit would have turned the game around. I always say that all pitchers get into trouble, but the good ones get out of trouble. He kept making his pitches. He didn’t lose his cool. He stayed calm and focused.”

Adrian Beltre and Ian Kinsler each hit home runs for the Rangers.  Texas recorded 7 hits on the day.

The Rangers start a series in Detroit on Monday.
