Rough Night For Rangers

The Texas Rangers felt no home love Tuesday night against the Boston Red Sox.

Texas lead-off man Ian Kinsler was hit by a pitch, and then promptly picked-off at 1st base by Boston pitcher Clay Buchholz.   Kinsler was then ejected from the game by first base umpire Tim Tschida after arguing the call.

The Rangers were held scoreless through 5 innings, until Elvis Andrus scored on a Josh Hamilton single.

In the 8th inning, Adrian Beltre was hit in the head by a pitch from Red Sox reliever Vicente Padilla.  Beltre came out of the game, but later showed no signs of a concussion.  Beltre later joked whether the beaning was resulting from some previous problem he had with Padilla,  “Not that I remember. Then again, I just got hit. Maybe I don’t remember.”

Rangers starting pitcher, rookie Martin Perez, left after a solid 6 innings, giving up just 1 run.  Reliever Joe Nathan earned the loss when he gave up the go-ahead run with 2 outs in the 9th.

Texas will host Boston in the final game of the series tonight at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.  Derek Holland will take the mound for the Rangers in the 7:05 pm game.
