RoughRiders Lose To NW Arkansas

FRISCO, TEXAS – The Frisco RoughRiders dropped game two to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in a 7-5 slugfest Sunday at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The Naturals (9-8, 34-53) led off the game with a solo home run by Brett Eibner over the left wall. Orlando Calixte singled right and then advanced to third on a single by Rey Navarro. Later in the fram, Matt Fields knocked an RBI single to right, extending the lead 2-0.
Guilder Rodriguez reached first on a fielding error by Navarro and the ‘Riders (7-10, 46-41) tie the game at two off a two-run blast over the left fence by Brett Nicholas. With two outs in the second, Ryan Strausborger homered to the left field Diamond Deck to give Frisco a 3-2 lead.
Matt Fields led off the fourth with a single to left and then Cheslor Cuthbert hit a two-run homer left as the Naturals reclaimed the lead, 4-3.
On the first swing of the fifth, a lucky ‘Riders fan won a brand new 2013 Jeep Wrangler from Pat Lobb Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Frisco with a home run to right field by Odubel Herrera in the Pat Lobb Magic Swing Promotion, the second winning homer of the season. Later in the frame, Hanser Alberto singled to deep shortstop and advanced to second on a groundout by Tomas Telis. Nicholas then singled right to bring home the run as the ‘Riders retook the lead 5-4.
Northwest Arkansas tied the game at five in the seventh, beginning with
a leadoff walk by Calixte. Cuthbert then singled to right, and then the run scored on a throwing error by Chih-Hsien Chiang. In the eighth, Eibner tripled to center and Calixte walked and stole second. Navarro then knocked a double to left-center to give the Naturals a 7-5 lead, which became the final score.
Scott Alexander (2-0) struck out four and allowed two hits in two scoreless innings to earn the victory. Jimmy Reyes (1-2) allowed two runs on two hits in one inning to suffer the loss. Zach Jackson pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his eighth save.
The ‘Riders conclude their home stand and their series against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Monday at 7:05 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Nick McBride (1-4, 4.76 ERA) makes the start for the ‘Riders, and will face Brooks Pounders (3-4, 3.94 ERA) for the Naturals.
