DALLAS (SMU) – The No. 21 SMU men’s soccer team defeated Missouri State, 1-0, Friday night at Westcott Field. Mustang Diogo de Almeida scored the game’s lone goal. With the win, SMU moves to 9-4-1 on the season and holds a 3-1-1 mark in C-USA. Missouri State is now 6-6-2 on the year.

de Almeida extended his goal-scoring streak to three games, including two consecutive game-winners, with a goal in the 60th minute. Following a Missouri State foul, senior Ian Kalis stepped in to take a free kick from 28 yards out. de Almeida was just outside of the six-yard box and deflected Kalis’ shot past the Missouri State goalkeeper and in. The tally was de Almeida’s fourth of the season.

SMU goalkeeper Jaime Ibarra turned in another strong performance in net as he earned his third shutout of the season. Ibarra made four stops on the night and intercepted several crosses in the box for the Mustangs.

The game concludes SMU’s non-conference schedule, with the Mustangs posting a 6-3 record out of league play.
