SMU Women’s Tennis Places 3 On All C-USA List

IRVING, Texas (SMU/C-USA) — The No. 50 SMU women’s tennis team (14-10) had three players named All-Conference USA on Monday. Seniors Aleksandra Malyarchikova and Edyta Cieplucha were named to the first team while freshman Vaszilisza Bulgakova made the third team. Malyarchikova is a four-time first team selection while Cieplucha is a four-time honoree making her second appearance on the first team.

No. 65 Aleksandra Malyachikova (5-9, Sr., Minsk, Belarus) went 24-6 with a 16-4 dual match record while going 6-3 against ranked opponents. She was named C-USA Player of the Month in September and Player of the Week on April 9. She is now 87-15 (.853) for her singles career, which is sixth in wins at SMU and second in career winning percentage. In doubles, Malraychikova and Bulgakova are ranked No. 64. She is 19-12 in doubles this year and has 76 career doubles victories, which is tied for third at SMU.

Edyta Cieplucha (5-11, Sr., Wisnowa Gora, Poland) was ranked as high as No. 94 in the ITA Singles Rankings this season. She went 23-15 while facing 11 ranked opponents. Her top singles win was a three-set victory against then No. 12 Mary Anne Macfarlane of Alabama. She is now 79-35 (.693) in singles at SMU, which is tied for seventh in career victories and ranks 10th in winning percentage. In doubles, she was 26-11 including a 10-2 mark with Malyarchikova.

Vaszilisza Bulgakova (6-0, Fr., Budapest, Hungary) went 11-11 on the season with a 10-9 record at No. 3 singles. In doubles, Bulgakova and Malyarchikova are ranked No. 64.

The NCAA team selections are April 30 and the individual selections are on May 1.
