Wild Lose In Washington

{fshare id=5353}

The Texas Wild fell to the league-leading Washington Kastles 23-18 Wednesday night.  The Wild fought hard, but could not overcome a stacked Washington roster.  In the opening match, the Wild called upon Tim Smyczek to substitute for an injured Alexander Bogomolov.  Smyczek took his opening WTT set to the limit, falling in a tiebreak to Bobby Reynolds.  Women’s doubles saw Venus Williams and Martina Hingis teamed together for Washington.  The future and current Hall of Famers easily won the set in what would turn out to be the difference in the match.  The Wild rallied in the mixed doubles event, as Aisam Qureshi and Anabel Medina Garrigues upset the team of Leander Paes and Hingis.  Texas would keep the momentum into the women’s singles set, where Medina-Garrigues slipped past Venus Williams.

The Kastles took the victory in the final set, with the men’s doubles team of Paes and Reynolds overpowering Qureshi/Smyczek.

The Wild return home to face Austin tonight.  Tickets are available at www.texaswildtennis.com.
