Lisicki Wins Inaugural Texas Tennis Open

Sabine Lisicki’s most difficult opponent this week at the Texas Tennis Open was Mother Nature.  Without the 100+ degree temperatures this week, Lisicki would not even have broke a sweat during this tournament.  Lisicki breezed through 5 opponents, only losing 13 total games en route to her 3rd WTA title.

Lisicki, ranked 22 in the world, dismantled qualifier Aravane Rezai in the final 6-2, 6-1.  Lisicki won 84% of her service points and never faced a break point.

In the double’s final, Sorana Cirstea and Alberta Brianti defeated Alize Cornet and Pauline Parmentier 7-5, 6-3.  Cirstea and Brianti were a last-minute addition to the tournament, having just decided to play together while on the flight to Dallas.  With no pressure, the two appeared to have fun throughout the week, and the results showed.
