3rd Down, 2 To Go

The Cowboys finally released T.O.  After months of speculation, Jerry Jones has realized T.O. spells trouble.

As reported here, (see 1st Down, 4 To Go), the Cowboys have some housecleaning to do if they are going to regain their respectability.  Releasing T.O. sends the message that Jones will do whatever it takes to try and right the ship, even if it implies he made a mistake.  The Cowboys will be hurt at the wide receiver position this year, but the gains made in team chemistry should prove it worthwhile.   It remains to be seen whether wide receiver Roy Williams can live up to his Dallas billing.

Also released was safety Roy Williams (not to be confused with the wide receiver by the same name.) The 7 year vet out of Oklahoma requested to be traded or released. In an example of be careful what you wish for, he was released. Will another team take a chance on a hard hitting safety who has not performed well in cover situations? Williams even indicated he would consider a move to linebacker.  A 5 time Pro Bowler and fan favorite, Williams deserves a chance somewhere.

Let’s recap, Pacman – gone; Tank Johnson – gone; T.O. – gone; Roy Williams -gone.  If I were Flozell, I would be nervous, it appears Jerry just might be reading DFWsportsonline.
